New York marathon 2007Event - New York, USA, November 2007

New York marathon 2007
Vaillant UK and Wilo Intec support the British Heart Foundation at the New York marathon.
A challenge…

On the 4th of November 2007, the ING New York City Marathon took place through the 5 boroughs that make up the city – Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Manhattan – with over 38,000 people participating and 2 millions cheering spectators.

‘After months of training , the 4th November soon came around and it was time to line up with all the others runners. The atmosphere was fantastic and the nerves soon disappeared as the race started. Although the course was quite difficult with 26,2 miles (42,195 km), a number of bridges to overcome, a tunnel of noise, it took 5+ hours to complete the marathon only felt like 1 hour!
This is an experience of a lifetime.

A team…

This year there were 2 entries from Wilo Intec and running with them a high performing representative from Vaillant UK, namely

Steve Emerton – Innovation Engineer from Vaillant Industrial UK
Together with
Kevin Padmore – OEM Sales Manager UK
Vincent Fleurier – OEM Manager France and Spain

Neither Kevin nor Vincent had attempted such a feat before and decided to take up the challenge in aid of charity, the British Heart Foundation being chosen, as Kevin has undergone a heart surgery 2 years before and Vincent was diagnosed high blood pressure troubles 18 years ago.

Steve had previously run the London Marathon.

For a good cause…
The British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s heart charity. ...Its mission is to play a leading role in the fight against disease of the heart and circulation so that it is no longer a major cause of disability and premature death.
